Building a social media presence is something that every marketer is concerned about. Social media creates remarkable value for your organization for the long term. It looks straightforward to start with, but that’s rarely the case. You need to to develop the right kind of presence at scale that is consistent with your brand image. This is nuanced and varies from case to case, but here are a few pointers that can help you get started.

1. Claim you identities
The first thing you must do is to claim your social media accounts with your brand name. Choose simple and functional names. The worst case scenario here includes the possibility of someone else already using the same name. So, it is better to check beforehand if someone is already using the brand name before finalizing it, in case you’re a startup. Keep it simple!
2. Maintain consistency across channels
If you start accounts in different social networks and make have different team members creating content, it may reflect in the posts. It’s great to stay diverse as a brand, but remember, you also need to maintain a consistent tonality that represents your brand personality. Prepare guidelines for what kind of content that should be posted, the kind of tone that works for your brand and ensure you have a strict quality control process. 3. Develop a schedule… And follow it
You need to post regularly in order to build a following. Prepare an editorial schedule allows you to do that. Post in different time slots to test what engages your audience. So, if your brand is endorsed publicly, it will generate a lot of traction for you and help you gain more followers.
5. Reward active followers
Social media is never a one way journey. Do not just bombard the audience with posts about yourself. Always come back and engage with people afterwards. Reply to their queries and thank people for positive feedback. Even if someone is being negative, keep your calm and try to understand if they have some real issues. Be generous to reward active followers who regularly engage with you and share your posts. Give them small discounts or simply feature them on your posts to make them feel special and stay encouraged to maintain their engagement.
6. Integrate with your website
White the social networks are used to promote you website, the reverse is necessary. Do not forget to include all social links onto your website.
